Together Shirodhara means a continuous flow of herbal oil on the forehead. The pressure of oil or milk onto forehead creates a vibration, the medications used to make the oil or milk has a special effect on the mind and the body. It relaxes the wandering mind while it rejuvenates the overworked scalp. The continuous flow of the warm fluid rids the built-up toxins, relieving stress, and relaxing the nervous system.

Shirodhara improves physical and mental health and can help with:

Stress Reduction: Shirodhara induces a profound state of relaxation, calming the nervous system and reducing stress levels. The continuous flow of warm oil creates a soothing sensation that can alleviate anxiety and promote a sense of well-being.

Improved Sleep: The deep relaxation induced by Shirodhara can help improve sleep quality. It can be particularly beneficial for individuals experiencing insomnia or sleep disturbances related to stress or anxiety.

Enhanced Mental Clarity: Shirodhara is believed to balance the doshas (constitutional elements) and clear blockages in the mind, leading to increased mental clarity, focus, and concentration.

Headache and Migraine Relief: The gentle pressure and warmth of the oil on the forehead can help alleviate tension headaches and migraines. Shirodhara may also help reduce the frequency and severity of these conditions over time.

Balanced Mood: Shirodhara promotes the release of serotonin, a neurotransmitter associated with mood regulation. As a result, it can help alleviate symptoms of depression, anxiety, and mood swings.

Nourished Scalp and Hair: The warm oil used in Shirodhara nourishes the scalp and hair follicles, promoting healthy hair growth and preventing dryness and dandruff.

Detoxification: Shirodhara helps stimulate the lymphatic system and improve circulation, facilitating the removal of toxins from the body. This detoxifying effect can contribute to overall health and well-being.

Balanced Energy Flow: Āyurveda teaches that Shirodhara helps balance the flow of prana (life force energy) throughout the body, promoting overall vitality and well-being.

Garshana-Abhyanga with Svedana bodywork service.
  • 75-90 Minute Treatment, $123

Āyurveda has a traditional treatment and various therapies that can provide us with detoxification. Garshana, Abhyanga with Svedana is a traditional Ayurvedic treatment that combines two main therapeutic techniques: Garshana and Abhyanga with Svedana.

Garshana, a dry massage brushing technique is one of the easiest practices to encourage the body to cleanse, increase circulation, and stimulate the removal of toxins. Garshana is typically performed before Abhyanga to prepare the skin for the application of oil. Abhyanga involves the application of warm herbal oil to the entire body, including the scalp and hair. It is believed to improve circulation, enhance lymphatic drainage, lubricate the joints, and support overall health and well-being.

Svedana refers to the Āyurvedic practice of inducing sweat or perspiration. It is often administered after Abhyanga to further enhance the therapeutic effects of the massage. Svedana can be achieved through various methods, including steam therapy, herbal steam baths, or the application of heat packs. The heat helps open up the pores, allowing for the release of toxins and promoting deeper relaxation. Svedana is particularly beneficial for reducing stiffness, alleviating pain, and improving the flow of prana (life force energy) in the body.

Garshana-Abhyanga with Svedana can be a perfect treatment in this modern world, which can deliver a rapid rush to all systems.

Ayurvedic Facial bodywork service.
  • 60 Minute Treatment, $123

Āyurvedic facials are a combination of a classical facial integrated with the principles of Āyurveda using oils and techniques to balance the physiology of the client through their skin.

In Āyurveda, each person has a predominant dosha, Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. This also applies to the skin. Vata's skin is dry and thin, Pitta's is sensitive and rosey, and rosacea tendencies. Kapha's skin is smooth, oily, and acne-prone. When these doshas are balanced the skin glows, when they are out of balance, skin problems arise.

An Āyurvedic facial helps balance the doshas through the skin and uses a more gentle and nourishing approach in its facial. Conventional facials use a more abrasive hand in terms of peeling, puncturing, or using acids to strip the skin. Āyurvedic facials use only 100% natural products which are chemical-free and not tested on animals. This means that beautiful skin is possible without nature paying the price.

Āyurvedic facials address both physical and spiritual well-being as they incorporate all of the 5 senses and include a scalp massage, arm, and hand massage, and a facial massage, often referred to as facial yoga. Facial massage is an amazing holistic tool to manipulate and tighten the skin, a natural Botox alternative.

The World of Āyurveda

Āyurveda (pronounced eye-yer-veda) is a Sanskrit term that means "science of life". Āyurveda is the sister science to yoga, originating in India over 5,000 years ago, and is considered one of the first forms of medicine.

In Āyurveda bodywork, rather than focusing on a specific area of muscle tension or pain as we do with traditional massage therapy, we address the whole person and provide an overall sense of calm in the mind, body, soul, and senses. Āyurveda bodywork uses oil in the treatment as the oil is considered a therapeutic tool.

Āyurvedic bodywork is very personalized and tailored to address the needs at the time of treatment. Prior to an Āyurvedic bodywork session, clients will complete an intake form and we will discuss the treatment approach that is best at the time of the session.

Āyurveda embraces one's individuality and our relationship to the world around us; our life experiences, habits, and tendencies. Our relationship with nature can impact our mind, body, and soul.  With the support of Āyurveda, we can return to our true nature and live a life that supports our overall well-being.
